Cranked torsion bars with limited results...
#1
I plan on getting 285/70-17's in the next day or so, so I went ahead and turned my torsion bars some. I've got a few concerns. I turned them a pretty good amount (not bottomed out though) and it only raised the front 3/4". Is that right? I have an 05 Z-71 Tahoe. Like an idiot I read the forums AFTER I turned the torsion bars and realized that I should have jacked the front up before. Did I hurt anything and should I jack it up after the fact for any reason? I'm feeling pretty spastic right about now so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The only reason people jack the front of the truck up first is it cuts down on the risk of breaking the bolts and overall makes it easier to crank, you can safely max out your stock keys and more then likely will not have over cranked, unless your torsion bars have not wore out much like mine, 3/4 of inch is nothing to worry about I cranked mine and got about 1 1/2 inches of lift and still have alot of thread left. So dont worry about it and throw those tires on.
Oh and get pics

doesn't really matter . . . but it does take the slack out of it when they're cranked. You're less likely to strip out a bolt
Some take out the stock keys, and put 1ton or Ford Green keys in . . for a 1.5 lift

Sweet! Thanks guys. I'm going to get the tires and alignment in the next hour or so. I'll post a pic up after I get it done. Hopefully I won't look like I'm riding around on balloon tires. lol

I think the tires look perfect! This is the size that the factory should have put on it. Here is a picture of it. It's not a great picture because I took it with my cell phone.
