c10 Ls, with 325/50/15 ET problems
I took my 78 C10 to the track this weekend with the new cam, heads, intake and tb...
Parts list:
L92 intake
CIA
comp cam 224/236 .581/ .601
92mm Nick williams throttle body
tuned
3600 stall
4.10 gears and a posi
homemade trac bars
drag radials (325/50/15)
Let's just say I was unhappy with the results... I could not get the truck out of the 13.3x's and the mph went to 102. It was 80*+, so the air could have been better...
The only good thing is the truck did get some 1.8 sixty foot, times.
I've been thinking maybe a higher (4200) stall instead of the 3600, or more gear than the 4:10's maybe 4:30's... And if money wasn't so tight I would go vic. jr and 4150 accufab (then some spray), but that's not feasible right now.
I really don't know, how to correct the problem.. The truck seems to dead hook and bog the motor..
I also manually shifted the truck and missed second a couple times so that didn't help, guess I need to adjust the linkage a little.
Any thoughts/help are appreciated.

my personal experience with 325-50-15 (16 psi) m/t drag radials was on my 86 gmc truck. I had a ls1 with a 4000 stall, ms4 cam, 430 gears, it did 1.65 60 foot at 11.9 and 112 mph. I could not get it to hook on a 150 shot, manage a 11.3 at 123 spraying when shifting to second gear, and broken my posi when I spray it of the line.

150 shot is definitely a option.. lol
And monte- I would love to get the truck to 1.65 60', I'm going to be in contact with circle-d when I get the chance. I think a 4200-4400. Also I'm going to see how much timing is in the current tune.
Thanks guys for the input

Turbo that thing, and you can get rid of the race gears , make it drivable , run 9s all day long on pump gas
NOS sucks who wants to be filling stuff all the time when you can set it and forget it!
turbo charging an LS is as easy as it gets there’s about 6 million people who have laid the ground work already .
turbos love to be loaded hard so they dint like alot of gear, like a NA set up. You’re already injected so half your turbo issues are dealt with pice of cake can build it in a weekend . And be running 9s at low boost next week.TONs of room under that hood too that thing was meant for a turbo set up.

Oh man just read that set up and the money you’re thinking of throwing at it w more gear more converter more money, For what to get an 11.90 at best forget it. Turbo it for the same $$ and run fast 9s are easily attainable w an easy launch and better drivability.
hate seeing people waste their hard earned money to go slow when it’s not necessary.
