Default Body Lift Questions

Hey guys, I was considering doing a body lift. Can anyone with experience with them give me some pros/cons? Also I was wondering a few things:

Do most kits come with a steering linkage extension?

I have a manual shifter for my 4wd, will my **** be super low or anything or will it not effect it?

Will my coolant hoses be stretched too much, or do I have to modify them in any way?

Whats the best kit out there for body lifts?

Thanks in advance.

Body lifts are a pain to put in done 2 by myself easier with help. Your hoses will be fine and yes on steering linkage floor shifter you will have to make a extension or no 4lo. Imo don't get on get a set of blocks and keys much easier and if you have a wreck with a body lift kiss you truck goodbye

Con, the hitch and exhaust will be 3inches lower if you raise the bumper up. The front bumper will be a pain in the *** to get on straight. 3" of the frame will be showing.

If you do it make sure you buy a tube of Red Thread lock and use it. I had a few bolts that came loose when I had the body lift on my 2K2.

I put a 3" Performance Accessories on mine. It did take a 3 day weekend to do it by myself but its possible. The bumpers are a pain but take your time and it will look good. All linkages and brackets come with the kit as well. Hitch does hang lower and I had a new exhaust ran so thats no biggie. If you only want something like 33's just ket the keys and be done with it but with the 35's I have I do recommend the body lift. Good luck...just remember its a lot of work but not hard work.

Pros looks and bigger tires. Cons no performance gains as far as suspension travel to off road. The exaust hitch and rear bumpers although its a pain can be moved to look like factory. Youll see daylight in rear fender wells between bed and fram unless u get gap gaurds. Honestly you should look like into a 4good inch suspension lift. There really not hard to do and come with everything you need. Ive seen them on craigslist very reasonable and i wouldnt be afraid of a used lift. You can look at the bushings and all to make sure there ok. And its safer and gives your truck more off road capability than a body lift. Looks better imo too. Theres nothing wrong with them but there a headache. Id look at suspension.

You could just get a kit for the front end and block the rear. I dont know if someone said that or not. You could replace the torsion keys and get another 3 inches in the front then just get 3a inch bigger blocks in the rear. You wouldnt have to adjust or move or do anything really to steering bumpers 4x4 etc. I think (not 100%) that f-150 keys will give you 3 inches in front

IMO bodylifts look exactly like they cost. CHEAP! Save up and go full suspension lift and you will be happier in the end.
