Had a chance to personally drive and run an EcoBoost a couple weeks back. It is an impressive setup, but no match for a tuned 6.2 Chevy, especially from a dig. By 70, I had several lengths on the Ford. Didn't get a video, since there weren't any passengers in either truck.
The biggest thing I observed about the EcoBoost, was that the mileage wasn't any better than I see from a 5.3 or 6.2 chevy. It was getting about 18 mpg at 70mph, with the cruise on.

Very true! But look at all the problems we have with the shitty DOD?AFM!
I loathe ford just as much as the next guy, but a direct injected TT v6 in a 1/2ton... That's pretty amazing and i cant wait to see GM's answer to it.
If i was a ford guy WHICH I'M NOT i'd be all over the Eco-boost! i seen with a tune and down pipe you gain 90hp! 2011 Ford EcoBoost F-150 picks up 90rwhp with Fastlane's tuning - YouTube
In the end it's still a v6 and sounds like ****, but turbos spooling can fix that!
I have also found this illustration showing fords engine torque curve

I believe these will be our biggest threat once the aftermarket catches up.

Yea that would have been completely different if the guy had known how to drive. My roommate has has a excab 4x4 eco all stock with 3.73 gears and it would have murdered both of those trucks with a boosted 4x4 launch. Thing runs about like my mid 13 sec duramax.

The top end looked similar in the dig race up to 14~15 seconds. I think on avg a decent running 6.2 will prob come out on top with both trucks being 2wd. The eco in a 4x4 with a good driver and 3.73 gear could be hard to beat due to the boosted launch with traction. Some of the eco's have really high gears like a 3.15. From a roll the 6.2 GM should have no worries.

i have been reading alot of ford forums, and checking inventory and pricing. i have come to a conclusion: I'm trading my chevy for a ford.
to be more specific, a 2013 f150 5.0 scsb 2wd, w/3.55 rear.
heres why:
my payment will go down, my insurance will go down, it gets better gas mileage, and its WAY faster than my truck. i dont need 4wd or a longbed anymore, so this is the way to go for me.
with just a tune the truck will run 14.0, and an intake and exhaust, running 13.5. Thats way easier than doing intake, cam, headers, exhaust, stall, and tune in my truck.
however, this winter is supposed to be very cold and wet, so i'm keeping the 4wd until spring.

I feel like the only way GM could take the market back from the ecoboost is if they went through with the baby Dmax in a half ton. Other than that, GM coming out with Direct Injection and 8 speed autos ain't gonna cut it
