But then it depends what you want doesn't it? Rev happy wannabe racetruck or an actual pickup truck......
Apples to apples.

Easy...... you daily drive a 6.2 3.73 and have mentioned its characteristics before....... Better as a truck engine. I don't honestly care if you win by a length with your 6.2 in an empty drag race. At least the Ecoboost doesn't have to turn 4K plus like your 6.2 to do anything while pulling. Or getting off the line for that matter. It has tons of pretty well instant low end pulling power like a litte diesel that a naturally aspirated 6.2 with L92 heads has no hope in hell of creating. A lot more fun to drive IMO.

Bingo! My 05 needs the Radix mod.... well and really probably 4.56 gears to make it fun again. Even with only 30" tall tires, heavy, plus 4L80E and 3.73's is no fun off the line.

I think youd be surprised how much the radix will help. I doubt you would need gears since the radix ought to get you 2600 or so out of the stock 80e converter. Ive installed a few of them and even on a stock 60e converter(2000ish) turns em into a tire fryer. Plus they just sound awesome spun up

The topic was whether anybody has raced an Ecoboost, not whether they've towed vs one. I have never had any real complaints about the powerband on my truck (which was much improved by the tune), I've just wanted more, like most of us on this site. Now stock LY6 2500s, on the other hand, I have complained about lack of low-end before.
I agree that on paper the EcoBoost looks to be the winner for driveability while towing. However, I've heard less than desirable real-life feedback about their fuel economy and loaded performance vs the 6.2 GMs, so I will withhold judgement there until I am better informed.

I have heard a lot of things too..... they mean nothing. If you want a comparison line your truck up against one. Well put it back to stock first if you want to be fair. There is tons of supposed races out there along with the usual Youtube tripe... and I don't believe much any of it, one way or the other, lol. First hand works so much better and I have driven both trucks...... And yes, I didn't buy either of them.

I already get between 2500 and 2600 with the stock convertor just because of the additional weight I have added to the truck. I really doubt I could ever spin the tires ( without emptying the bed of course) but the pull would be awesome. As long as revenue canada sees the supercharger as a business expense ( it's my companies truck) I may very well have to do that!

I would love to line up with an Ecoboost, or even better a Ford 6.2. Unfortunately, I just haven't had the opportunity, and if I do I obviously won't be returning to stock just to get a better comparo
I like to imagine that I haven't done much for performance other than cancel out the taller, heavier tires anyway. I have, however, lined up against a Tundra 5.7 4x4 crew and beat him decently twice.

the new ford 3.7l v6 goes to 7k, and puts out 305hp/278tq, without direct injection.
the 3.5 ecoboost only makes 365hp/420tq with 2 turbos and direct injection.
it seems like they half-assed the output on the ecoboost, it should make 450hp/550tq with a proper tune and the right amount of boost.
looks like gm needs to give the option of the 3.6 in the silverado, it beats the hell out of the 4.3!

Lol, I just popped in this thread to ask: Who really gives a flying f@&k about apples to apples comparisons? I personally never buy a car or truck and leave it stock, it's a sickness really. The EB motor appears to have good potential but I think it's kind of laughable that some of you think it has more potential than an LSX motor.
Not that it matters but I lined up a few times with a stock EB F-150 and he was running 15.30's. I talked to the guy and complimented him on his ride.
