Default anyone have side pipes

Anyone have side pipes on there trucks.
I saw in a recent magazine a Ford Dually with side pipes. Looked pretty sick, it was low and had some 22s or 24s. I think it was a Diesel.
Would they be beneficial HP wise? Or, would they be more for looks.

Nightrunner,
With the right set-up and tubing size you dont think there would be any gains? If you think about it, all you're really doing is moving the exhaust from under the truck to outside the frame rails. Of course you would have to go with a Tube style muffler to.

My only problems are, getting the tubing to the outside of the frame. Allthough, I did find an exhaust shop (I think its DRGas) that had a frame clearance tube. Also, the cross-over pipe, not sure how I'll do that. I would like and X pipe but, might have to settle for an H type cross-over. It's still in the drawing stage, we will see what happens once the weather starts to break, cant stand the cold weather.

if you are going from stock yea there would be gains, but if youre going from an aftermarket/custom exhaust to sidepipes no there wont be a diff in performance

This was all based on a stock to side pipes comparison. I think the gains will compareable to and aftermarket exhaust. Plus I think they just look cool.
If I go through with it, I'll post pics.
