With the gear selector in D and doing 45-50 mph i will be locked in OD. If i gently increase throttle i can hear the engine (?) clinking, like it is lugging! The tranny wont immediately downshift unless i give it more throttle, and then the ping stops. I know if i drive in 3 i dont have this issue.
What's goin' on? Is it the tune? I have increased line pressure to 35% and upped shift point 200 rpm only.

The noise you hear is the load on the engine when the converter is locked. When you give it more gas and it down shifts to 3rd the engine is not under as much load so you don't hear the noise of the engine because the load is greatly reduced.

Mine does the same thing and its stock. Its lugging because the overall gearing is really high at this point since you're in OD and you haven't given it enough gas to allow the tranny to downshift. Just punch it; it'll go in to second then

When you said "I" you ment westers. That is where the confusion was.
The tune is set to not unlock the converter right away, until more throttle pressure, yours sounds normal but could be adjusted out.
