you know i will post up some performace info once i get thru this and start hammering on it.

i am having serious problems with my truck. drag week is looking questionable
.
here is my problem.
my computer(megasquirt) is seeing tach spikes. megasquirt adds fuel based on a few things but mainly it is rpm, map and the ve map. when the rpm jumps around then so does the fueling. the rpm megasquirt is seeing is jumping around for some reason.
after doing some research it seems this is often caused by interfearance put into the ground system of the truck by any number of things. i have spent many hours trying to track down this problem and am not geting anywhere.
we have tried extra ground straps(motor to frame and motor to body)
a larger power wire from the rear mounted battery to the front
a seperate large ground cable from the battery to the engine
a diferent set of plugs, coil packs, alternator
a 2nd mega squirt
diferent ways of inputing the tach signal into the megasquirt
conditioning of the tach input into the mega squirt
diferent locations for the megasquirt ground
diferent locations for the megasquirt power
unhooking of the tps sensor into the megasquirt
direct input from the crank trigger into the mega rather than the tach output
diferent firmware and diferent software for the mega
unhooking of one coil/injector at a time to see if problem goes away
a few dozen other things.
sometimes the problem would change a little, usualy for the worse. right now it starts and drives fine and revs fine in the drive way but under a load the mega sees the tach spikes and starts dumping fuel.
the problem started with the twin install but was just an ocasional spike. since then the problem has slowly goten worse. i dont know if the intake install caused part of the problem but i dont think so since it was starting to show before the swap. it is worse now though.
i have changed several things, some of the significant.
moved factory computer
extended parts of the main harnes that goto the engine
moved battery to the rear
twins, new manifolds, exhaust....
intake, new tb, new rails, modified fuel system
lots of other little stuff
geek and i spent about 12 hours working on it last night(till 6am), he moved to LA awhile ago but came back to vist and work on some cars. he ended up thrashing on several cars while he was here and got the others all figured out but mine is stumping him along with some other prety smart local guys. today he headed back to LA and now i really wonder if this thing is going to make it for drag week.
