Oh okay yeah I think I understand it a bit more now after watching the video a couple of times. Some guys were saying that they run open loop all the time and I was confused as I thought closed loop was the one you wanted. So this way you run open loop while dialing in and then closed loop afterwards.

On the headers side of things I will probably install the headers and run the wideband sensor off the rear driver's side O2 harness. I think this makes the most sense but I am not sure if I will need an extension harness. I may purchase one to be on the safe side but I think it may clear.

Correct tune in open loop then re-enable the narrow o2's to go back into closed loop.

I don't understand what you mean taking about "the rear o2 harness". The wideband kit comes with it's own harness from the sensor to the gauge. I have no downstream o2's or cats to monitor and have the rear o2's disabled in the tune. I have the rear o2 harness plugs zip tied to the frame rails.

Right there right there that was the piece I was missing. I kept looking at the pictures thinking man what the hell am I missing. It's because I am a retard and the pictures did not make sense in my head. It has its own harness. I am not sure why the hell I kept thinking man that thing looks awfully strange lol?

Damn am I a retard. I wish they had photos of it all assembled and such so you can kinda see a mock up. I couldn't find any unless I skipped over it

This is the AEM 30-0300 X Series wideband that I have...
AMAZON AMAZON

You can see the gauge and Bosch sensor to the left.

The center shows the included weld in bung.

The right shows the two harnesses.

The long one at the bottom connects the o2 sensor to the gauge.

The short harness at the top connects from the gauge to either the MVPI device (if you have that option) or to the A/C circuit or the EGR circuit. This is how the VCM scanner sotfware sees the wideband in HP Tuners.

This is where the bung is on my Speed Engineering true duals (opposite side) so I didn't need to weld in the bung that came with the kit.

That is the older AEM wideband.
The X series is the newer AEM product

I have the older MVPI Pro which makes it simple to connect.
(my slight dyslexia is showing in this thread should be MPVI)

My setup:

I extended two wires to connect the Pro's green plug to the AEM short harness. I wind up the plug and wires and hide them inside the Dorito cover at the fuse box.

I simply plug the green connector to the MVPI and she's ready to log. With the Pro feature you don't need a laptop to log (see record button) but I like seeing that I'm actually logging so I always use the laptop.

I put the MVPI in the large console cubbie hole for protection then simply plug the USB to the laptop. I use a piece of masonite under the laptop to avoid the cloth seat from blocking the air vents, also keeps the heat off the passenger seat.

Since this thread is about tuning, I suggest that nobody ever update their HP Tuners again if they care about certain features on it.

On the newest version of the software they are removing lots and lots of tables related to emissions controls. So you will no longer be able to turn off certain things for cats and o2 sensor tests depending on year. There are people that do roll back firmware updates on the original MPVI so you can run older versions of the software, it's a process though.

Yeah lemme get one of those ones for diesels. I actually see on PirateBay someone has a 2008 version of HPTuners. I may try and download it on another laptop and see if I can edit the emissions out of a F250 or something. Don't want that PirateBay **** on my laptop.

Alright Red I will get that one you posted from Amazon. Summit has it and I am going to see what kind of discounts my guy can get me. I also have $15 of Summit Bux so I'll at least not pay extra for tax. I also have figured out the wiring so I can avoid purchasing HPT Pro version. Whenever the Summit near me gets it back in stock I will pick it up and then either wait until payday to get the headers or buy them now, have not decided what to do yet.
