i consider myself half *** knowlegable...

edit...wrote that before the poll was available. im 90/10 although all of the tools are my dads i cant tackle paint or body work and im afraid to touch the transmission or rear end. ill leave that to the pros. never taken an engine apart and put it back together alone...just watched a friend do it a few times so i not too sure about messing with cams and springs either.

I find I don't know half as much as I thought I did. This ( and LS1Tech ) site is a wealth of knowledge, much better than the other "show and shine" blogs.
I have done R&R everything on both cars and motorcycles short of rebuilding automatic trannies. Absolutely no body work, no patience for it!

THE fukn guru Nah, just a shade tree'r that loves fast trucks. And making things do what they arent suposed to. Like making my Z-71 run 12's and tripple as a daily driver, and my 4wd hunting machine

Only thing I won't do is internal tranny rebuilds, and rear end work (gears, etc). Only reason for that is I don't have a clean room for the tranny's, nor the tools or a bench good enough for them. I don't touch the rear because, number one, I don't have the mics and things for that, and being able to blame someone else for the gear whine is a hell of a lot easier.

Good thread, I think the 50/50 fits me perfect. As for the tool set, I'm trying to get a little one started..

90/10 here. I do everything mechanical myself, and probably somethings I shouldn't do. The only thing I haven't tackled myself is paint, but body and metal work is no stranger. I don't do a damn thing until I've researched the **** out of it. Even then it never seems like I've learned enough. The internet is a good tool, but it isn't my only resource, that's for sure.

I have little to NO patience......I do the simple stuff, pay for the rest. Keeps me from kickin' in a panel or something.
