Here is a crank tap i picked up a few weeks ago



Fully seated





Here is what i have also used. I got a regular tap and put it in the end of an extension



If anyone needs to borrow the long tap just let me know

That's a nice tool...hope I never need to use one though I definitely want to add that to my collection though

i got it off of ebay, i think a machinist was selling off all his goodies. Yep this is one of those tools you never want to have to use, but when you need it, it is great to have sittin in your tool box.

Absolutely...I'll ask my SnapOn guy if he has anything like that, I'll bet that I'd probably have to sell off my LQ9 to afford it lol

BTW, in your first pic I can see where the first few threads of the crank bolt look flattened...

The only time you should really need that is when you use a longer bolt to pull the balancer and you mess up the threads. Just if some one made a tool to pull the balancer on. Unless you just want to chase the threads everytime the bolt is out.

Ya the motor i bought the crank bolt was messed up by the prior owner. I assume he crank and the crank bolt got messed up the same time. Well i got
The crank fixed no problem then i fixed that crank bolt. That is why it looks a little funny
