Default Can you mate long tubes headers to stock exhaust pipes?

Looking to get long tubes primarily to fix manifold problems I'm currently having. My truck has mostly 3 inch duals to a single muffler from the factory. I'd rather keep the pipes and either keep or swap out the muffler to a magnaflow or something if possible. If not does anyone sell a header back exhaust for long tubes for these trucks that isn't overpriced, or even just a mid/down pipe to get me a little further back? I don't own a tube bender, but will be getting a welder soon. Also I don't trust the only exhaust shop nearby. I'm lucky to live in an area with no emissions.

Also, if anyone can recommend a good shorty that would be nice to have as an option.

Yes, most of your good headers are actually designed to attach to the stock exhaust. Like wise most exhaust companys that build cat backs design them to attach to factory mid pipes. What are your manifold problems?

My bad, it's the 6.0 engine, 2000 model year. Talking about longtubes here. None of them look like they are designed to attach to stock exhaust, I might be wrong though, so if you know of one that will can you link it. Can you link a cat back? Manifold is just leaking at the gasket and the previous owner had some cracks welded. Time for an upgrade.

ARH makes midpipes for the 6.0 with dual exhaust.

1,429.00 for the ARH header with midpipes without cats. I know you have to pay to play but I could do a stroker for that. I'm planning on just getting the pace setter long tube headers by the way.

If you call them direct, I have saved a lot ordering directly from them before.

Also, if you're fretting over that amount of money, you would be better off staying stock.

Got a lot of projects, need to keep myself in check, slightly. Just looking to replace the stock manifold that's beaten up with something better. HP/$ isn't too great with that option. Truck isn't nice enough to justify yet, thanks anyways though.

The stock HD exhaust flows extremely well once you're past the stock manifolds. If you're creative you may be able to fab up headers to the stock midpipes.

Also, to address your stroker comment, you won't come close to doing a stroker for that cost. To do a stroker correctly, set aside a minimum of 6-8k.

The most economical option would have been to start off with an 8.1L burb

I might order the headers, see where I can get with them. If not, I'll find another exhaust shop, try fabbing something up, or just bite the bullet and order from ARH. I am a big fan of their products.

Should I set aside $500 for my next oil change too? Seriously though, please don't pull numbers out of thin air, doesn't help me or anyone else at all. You can buy a 408 long block for $7,000. I've actually helped with a similar stroker that I'm looking to do to throw in my friends truck. Total was less than $4,500 and that includes the 6.0, machine shop costs, mail order tune, and a lot of extras. It's been 3 years and it still runs fantastic. For $8,000, it had better have diamond studded rockers.

Test drove an 8.1 before this, I guess I'm just a small block guy, felt the same way about it as the 454 vortec compared to the 350. Good engine but smaller aftermarket, small block stock feels snappier. Besides I'm trying to move on from Gen Is to LS engines.

Guess I'm done with this thread, thanks to everyone for helping.
