Rear Drop ?s
I was at Orig Equip here in San Angelo and was asking about some 2" drop shackles for my truck for a temporary drop. The guy working there said that to drop the extended cabs with the shackles you have to spend an extra $150-$200 to align the drive shaft and everything. I know for extreme changes you would have to do this, but is this true for a 2" drop? My friend has a pre-1999 body style extended cab with shackles and it drives just fine. A younger guy that worked there that seemed more knowledgeable of suspensions said that he had dropped them with the shackles all the time and it never needed the realignment.

I dropped my 00 GMC 4" (shackle / hanger) and never shimmed anything. Not a hint of any vibration. I think you will be fine. I'll only charge you $100.00 for the info so you're money ahead. lol

Oh, and if you are ever looking for anything here in San Angelo, go somewhere besides Orig Equip. I don't wanna go into it, but the guy was a total and complete @$$ the entire time I was there and talked down to me until I left. Not a good businessman at ALL! I am still pissed at some of the things he said!

Got them installed last night. The only problem I ran into was the factory trailer hitch was in the way of the bolts for the shackles so they could not come out. Just cut a notch out on each side and they came right out. I don't think it was a load bearing area of the hitch so towing shouldn't go down any, not that I ever tow anything very heavy anyway, just a jet ski. Looks a lot better now though and quick install other than the modification of the hitch, we installed some on a friend's 95 Chevy about a year ago and it took only about 15 minutes. Oh, and my driveshaft is more level now than it was before the drop.

Ok, heres a few pics. It's been rainy so my truck is dirty, and its on an incline so it doesn't look as level as it normally does.
