Project "Blown HD" my 6/8 drop/shortblock/heads/cam/blower/tranny install

Grippy,
That goes on the rear portion of the left head. I don't think that it's absolutely necessary. It's some sort of guard device for the LH fuel rail in case of a frontal impact. The device is supposed to prevent damage to the fuel rail if the engine gets shoved back into the firewall.

Actually, it a GM safety device
Goes where Richard says, (back of drivers side head) but it's there to keep the fuel rail from braking off in a front end collision when the motor is pushed back into the firewall. That why it's so thick.

Richard,
You are a fast typer! While you were typing a response, I had started typing and stopped to try to look up the true name of the part, but I never found it. Anyway, here's a picture of it from an engine sold on eBay.

I've saved a bunch of pictures from eBay auctions because they illustrate where things go for when I forget like Grippy did. Of course, I can't blame this on Grippy's memory. Heck, when he started this project no one had even heard of global warming yet!
Grippy,
I wouldn't loose any sleep about reinstalling it either.
