However I just saw this on Hookers website while I was researching some ceramic headers.... I know yours are not Hookers but you just got them freshly coated.

WARNING! Breaking in an engine with ceramic-coated headers WILL result in damage to the coating and will VOID all warranties. Ceramic-coated headers require several heat cycles to fully cure before they will withstand extreme heat. HOOKER recommends using a cast-iron exhaust manifold or an old header to break in new engines to avoid coating damage.

I think that's for engines with the old fashioned flat tappet cams. They need a break-in period of about 20 minutes at around 2500 rpm. A prolonged steady heat blast like that might damage brand new ceramic headers. Fortunately our engines use roller cams, which require no break-in.

 

That makes sense, I was thinking that it might be an engine running rich or lean at break-in.

Olympic Coatings is the same place I was having coat the billet J-tubes. I think they do Magnusson's stuff. They do great work.
