Default My turn. lq4/4l80 swap(GOING BOOST PG. 4)

Hey guys. I found a lead on a wrecked 2000 2500 at a local junkyard. Hustled around, did some trading, and got into this thing for about $500. Although, I didn't know anything at all about the truck, I thought I might try the gamble. I had a thread previously about the truck.

Donor Truck:

Did some searching around in the truck and found this:

Also in the warranty book, I found it filled out to be from our local telephone company.

Did some more digging around in the glove box, and found a service ticket that was signed to someone that my dad ended up knowing. Gave the guy a call to find some information on the truck: The local telephone company bought the truck new. The person we called was the sole driver of the truck. He said, "We sold the truck because of it being a 2wd, and the new owner wrecked the truck shortly afterwords."

So hopefully, this will end up being a good gamble. Before I went throught with the trade, I checked all the fluids and made sure the motor turned over. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that it turns out to be a good motor. Here's some pics of my truck as it currently sits, waiting for the swap.

Once it's in and running you will really enjoy it. Here is a short thread on my lq4/80e. Enjoy.

Nice find on the truck! Good to see another Arkansas guy on here. I am originally from the Fort Smith area. Good luck on the project.

Haven't been able to do a whole lot here lately. The weather has been terrible here, and the donor truck is outside.

Got the old 5.3 out:

Donor truck likes the starter and tranny cross member and it will be ready to come out. I plan on swapping my old cam into it while its out. Also gonna throw a new timing chain on it.

Does that 6L have iron heads? Do you plan to use the 14 bolt?

This makes me want to get started on mine tomorrow

Unfortunately, it is an iron headed 6.0. I plan on running them for a little bit. Going to throw my cam in it(222/230 113) and drive it. Next mods will be an 80 converter than a set of heads. Still, unsure of what heads I'll go with.

Going to use my stock rear end. It has 4.11s and a tru track. Does anybody have any info on the drive shafts? I've read some shorten them, some don't. My flip pulled the rear end back about an inch.

Take the slip yoke off the 2500 and get a bastard u-joint, with the 1'' back it will probably be perfect length.

Subscribed. This is something i plan to do in the near future also, but when looking around I have been aiming for an 03 and newer 6.0 due to the older motors having the iron heads and a little low on the power end - not sure what equates to the power gains on the newer 6.0's.. is it just the head change or an oem manifold change?
