Got the converter in. Not really what I was expecting. Damn thing just feels too tight. Heres some videos.

Brake Stall. It footbrakes about 200-300 rpm higher than the stock before it pushed through the brakes.

Flash stall. Cant tell much of anything. Locked it into second with the scanner, and matted it at 20mph.

Mild acceleration. This is about the only place I noticed much of a difference. It stayed "in the converter" on the shifts. I didnt feel as much of a bump when it shifted.

40 roll. Cant tell much of a difference here.

Also checked my slip %, and I'm slipping 7.3% at 95mph.

My conversation with lane: We went over the specs on my truck. I asked "what will the stall speed would be", and he said, "I figure we are looking at a 3000-3500" I said, "okay, that fine. Could we make it sort of on the tight side? I have plans to run up to 14lbs, up from my current 10psi. Could we make it with enough room to grow into that boost level? He said, "no problem".

Maybe I was expecting too much of a gain from the converter. A little disappointed right now. Any input?

Basically just left it up to lane on that call. This may be my problem. It is a very street friendly converter

You don't know what diameter converter it is? If he built it using a 10.5" or bigger core, that would explain why it is so tight. And you did tell him you wanted it tight so that is probably what he used. You would probably be happier with a 10" or smaller converter.

Well Ive deceided as of now, that I'm going to let my converter ride for a little bit. Im hoping it will loosen up as my power goes up.

I did take some pictures of my exhaust while I had everything apart. Everyone always asks me about my kit. So, I figured i'd get some pics while I had it down. The shop was a wreck when I took the pics, and the lighting sucks in there. But for the people that ask about building their own hotpipes, maybe these will help.

Figured I would do another little update.

Long story short, the snout on the converter I was shipped was .400" too long. The snout ended up bottoming out in the crankshaft area, and knocked the pump out in the transmission. This took a few hundred miles. Anyways, the low line pressure attributed to the pump cause my torque converter clutch to drag. I think this affected the converters performance. Also, broke the flexplate. It feels much better now. Here's a picture I took during the re-install.

Haven't done an update in a while, but I'd like to tell everyone I'm still hanging with the build. Life has been hecktic. Currently at 10psi, and drive it to work daily. Future plans are to add a water/methanol kit and turn it up to 14-15psi, and see how it does. For now I've been beating the snot out of it and enjoying it.
