Get a live well overflow screen, it won't disrupt flow too much and will keep ice from plugging your intake and cavitation the pump.

Yea, something like that would be perfect, just need to find a 1.5" version or make an adapter of some sort.

I really do crack myself up

It won't disrupt the flow but it will keep large debris out from clogging the pump. We actually use it in a chiller application.

Also, on the suction side you should use a rigid reinforced hose so it doesn't collapse. The standard fiber reinforced PVC clear hose you have now will soften up in the heat and collapse on the suction side... You need something like this, designed for suction and reinforced so it won't collapse. https://www.homedepot.com/p/HydroMax...2025/310837588

I dunno if you should post a video of beating someone to death, that could be evidence.

Looks like standard clear reinforced PVC. Leave that stuff out in the sun, it will soften up.

The other type stuff I linked is what we use on the suction side. Its meant for jacuzi's and similar type applications.

I think I found a winner for the inlet screen, $20 total on mcmaster for the screen and a 1.5 to 2" adapter, may as well oversize the opening
