Its because the mounting points are further apart. The simulation keeps the bolt holes fixed.

No doubt, just thought it was cool haha. I also did my lower coilover brackets, which the stress levels arent even close on it.

On the coilover brackets? Not worth making them smaller even though its overkill, you already save around 40lbs and another 1lb isnt going to matter. Guys like the fact they are solid as rocks and inspire a lot of confidence since they are basically holding the truck up now.

Anyone with a lathe want to make a custom water pump pulley?

I took the dimensions of a stock one and beefed it up alot. Check out the pics. The thickness at the face is 1/2" thick (2x to 4x) and the hoop thickness where the belt rides is 0.25" thick (2x). The hub area around the snout is also about twice as big. The holes are 3/4" in diameter to save weight and look cool.

In steel it would weigh about 6lb and aluminum about 2lb.

I know someone who can do that. I PM'D you a whIle back about the spacer. I can send the drawings to him for the pulley if you want a quote. It would be done on a CNC lathe. I'll have to check to make sure it doesn't exceed the lathe max OD. So you think either steel (mild?) And aluminum (6061-T6?) Will be enough? Or is that part of the test?

I think strength wise aluminum would be ok, but im not sure about a press fit aluminum pulley to a hardened steel shaft, sounds like its asking to loosen up when things heat up and the aluminum expands faster than the steel.

I could probably design a 2 piece pulley with a steel hub and aluminum pulley just like the PRW pump does, but I have a feeling at that point may as well spend the $400 for the PRW pump.

Yea I got your PM, thanks for that. I am just waiting on my part back from nitrous express to decide if its worthwhile to make more of them.

Why not thread the WP shaft, then thread the ID of the pulley, spin it on and put a nut in front of it to lock it onto the shaft? Wouldn't matter if it's aluminum and grew a bit when hot.

Ever try threading a hardened shaft? Plus you would have to remake the pulley anyway to get ID small enough to get the threads to mate. Then there's the whole take the waterpump apart and put it back together thing too. Just doesn't seem like a very easy thing to do.

Making what atomic designed can be used on any stock waterpump and doest require wp disassembly.
