I did some searching and it seems like people are pulling the overload and adding Caltracs...I just ordered a set.

A lot of guys say that with the overload removed, you will get a lot of wheel hop. Adding caltracs/assassin bars fixes that.

I believe it is Phantom that likes to keep his overloads in and remove the middle leaf with traction bars.

Definitely remove that bracket and relocate the jounce bumper directly on the frame. Two nuts inside the frame rail hold that bracket on, and there is already a hole in the frame, in the right spot, for the jounce bumper. It will ride dramatically better just by removing that bracket.

I'll take it for a drive tomorrow and see if this makes a difference. I didn't see any marks on the axle pads, so I'm not sure if it was contacting it or not, but this is better anyway. Most of the ride quality I'm talking about is on flat level ground, which I think is more the springs and lack of weight over the rear end in combination with the much heavier 20" wheels than anything else.

Removing the overload will be good anyway, I'll be able to put in the shims. I tried once before and the spring pin wasn't long enough to engage the full spring pack, shim, and axle pad. With the overload out, it should be fine.

Id recommend removing the center leaf and doing assassin bars. Removing the overloads always gave the rear of the truck a "squishy" feel I didn't like even with Bilstien HD shocks and cal tracs. The assassin bars are also more adjustable than the cal tracs and much easier to install. Or you could always cut out some 1/2" plate to fit in the bed floor and bolt it down and be on your way!! That Dmax won't even know its in there

I hated the way my truck rode with the overload removed.
