Default 2001 HD Build Thread! West coast Style!

What up everyone! Love the site! Just bought me a 6.0 : ) Loving it already but have not even floored it yet haha dont need any speeding tickets and hardly any were to open her up. Cops every up here in the 530 area code and 209.

Anyways a few weeks ago bought my first 6.0. its a 2001 Sierra HD 4 door pretty much all stock leveled out tires and rims and a new stero sitting in my room a long with new speakers. Its my new cadillac! Plans are stereo sound deadening and exhaust and tune. And probably a bumber and winch and some more lights : )

I am sure lots more will come just still thinking, Any pointers on how to open her up and really let it run like the 6.0 it is? Its got 154,xxx miles. Should i mod this motor or get a crate motor and start fresh? You guys got some bad *** rides on here!

heads would be good. a good cam would be another great thing also.
now my truck is a 5.3 not a 6.0 so i wont know to much about getting that kind of power. but from what ive learned i believe you will have to go with a turbo or super charger to get close to your 500 hp. but i wouldnt take my word on that 100%

Depends on the money you wanna spend. Cam stall heads intake and mayb 100 shot will get you around those numbers. But if you got the money cam s/c mayb heads to. All boils down to how you want the power and how deep your pockets are

Well i love the way super chargers sound so i am thinking i would like to go that route. Can anyone in californa or nevada on these boards install cut outs? I dont have a garage or shop really to use. Getting spintech exhaust soon 9000 series. How much would a good cam and heads and blower cost? Were does everyone get their blowers? I been seeing lots of pro chargers in the build section

most people on this site you will find are using turbo chargers and to me it seems like alot are going to prochargers. but for your needs of 500hp a supercharger will be just fine also.

besides 500hp whats your goals for the truck. like everyday driver, something to have fun with, or what?

Well its a 4x4 so it will be close to being driven daily. Pretty much need tq for towing a cuddy cabin and wood up to lake tahoe and lots of miles and lots of hills lol. I live in the foothills so need a set up that i can just kill these hills on. The trucks heavy! I want it to still get ok gas mileage and be a reliable truck and fun.

Welcome to the site. First question is what the budget?? What are you willing to spend? CAM, LT's, ORY and exhaust along with a tune would really help a lot. Supercharger is another option, all depends on how deep your pockets are.

If i put my mind to it i can get it done. i saw texas speed and performance has good cams as me and another member were talking about it. what is ory? What is TBSS? I appreciate the help so much! One exhaust shop said they can do a cat back parts and labor for 450$ but thats not even headers. Idk if i can find anyone to put them on in ca : (
