Find a junkyard 5.3 longblock for about $500 and with fluids and all you'll be rolling for 600-650. Then you can do what you want to with the 6L and not be on a time deadline. Take your time with it. You'll be happy you kept that truck.

 

Before you condemn the engine for using oil, Try some Valvoline Max Life 10W-30. It's High mileage oil for engines with over 75,000 miles.

I started using it at 80,000 and I was using about 2 quarts every 2000 miles. By the 2nd oil change the oil consumption stopped.

I have tried other brands of High Mileage oil and Valvoline has been the only one that worked for me.

 

Yea i am going to change the oil again for the second time with that oil and hope for the best. i am hoping to get a settlement so that can go towards my problems. I just hope it doesnt blow up sometimes the oil light comes on on long trips. Craigslist i am tellin ya!

 

I got a new truck to me the other day its a 97 chevy pick up with built 350 eldelbrock heads cam intake no cats. Its a lot of fun to drive just blew a ball joint the other day so that sucks its down for a few days. Here is a few pics. What kinda things can i do to this thing to make it run better?





Also has a leak coming from the front of the motor going to go get it inspected here or at the shop for 30 bucks see what the heck it is. maybe the timing cover?
