That thing must be a beast! Curious exactly how much it does for the truck. Good luck with it

guys, help me out here. I did a few quick runs this morning with my HP Tuners hooked up. It has been a LONG time since I've dealt with engine tuning (it was very basic at that) and I need help figuring my max psi at WOT. At idle, my MAP was reading 28.0-30.0 Kpa which is around 4 psi. Is this my current absolute pressure? We are around 700 ft above sea level here so I'm not really sure what it should be. at 100% throttle, my MAP reads 118.0 Kpa, and it didn't budge until I let off at around 90mph. This is about 17 psi. Whipple states that it should give about 8-10 psi on a stock truck. How do I calculate what my actual max psi is?

Boober -

If your only running a 1 bar MAP sensor it won't read to much into boost, Which is why you flatlined it at 118. (i believe)

Usually NA engines produce about 98-100kpa at WOT which is obviously no boost.

I'm more upto date with earlier LSX stuff, but I believe this applies to what your seeing.

Nikon's right, the 1 bar sensor will only read up to 1 bar of pressure (which is right around atmospheric pressure of 100 kPa or 14.7 PSI). So you need a 2 bar sensor to read 1 bar of pressure over atmospheric, and you need a 3 bar to read 2 bar of pressure over atmospheric, etc.

That's what I was suspecting. I had hoped that it is a 2 bar MAP sensor, but since it was maxed out at just a little over atmospheric, I got my answer.

Same impression that I had. Congrats on getting the kit installed!

I would expect to see you around 8 PSI. As mentioned before, adding headers and the catback left me around 6 PSI before changing the pulley.

Update: Here are some pics that I promised. I didn't get the clearest shot of the H/E but it is a really nice piece IMHO. I've been really enjoying the extra power! I traded in my DD Cobalt SS/SC (fairly modded) for this truck and I at least wanted as much acceleration as the Cobalt. I definitely got that! Since I use my truck for my business, I think I'm just going to keep it in this configuration for now. It feels like a factory installed supercharger. Just nice and smooth with plenty of pull. I have my weekend toy to play with anyway.
