I just emailed Whipple about what they've got for my new '11 6.2 and got the following answers to my questions. VERY interesting ....

1) We have a kit for the 2011 but GM changed the computer mid year and I will need to know if your computer has 2 plugs or 3 plugs to determine if we have the tune for it or not.

2) The kit is 50 state emissions legal.

3) The black kit is $6299.99 plus $130 for shipping.

4) I do not have any dealer in OR.

5) If you did the install yourself, it would take about 10-12 hours total.

6) We do not have a cold air kit for these and we would not recommend adding one. It changes the MAF transfer functions and our tune does not support it.

7) You will not get the gains you think you would by adding long tubes. If the motor was built and you were going to run high HP, then you would look into doing the LT's. I would just add a cat back for sound only. Gains will not be that much.

Hmmmmmmm ....

I was told that they do not make a 2.9l kit for the trucks.

But do both bolt to the same manifold?

The main deal would be to get a head unit with the same intake positioning and pulley placement; after that I don't think it would too difficult.

From what I have read the 2.9l is for the camaro, corvette applications. so you would need the manifold from them to bolt right on. I am not sure if there is much difference between the bolt pattern on them. Who wants to be the first to try????

BS. I was talking to a guy the other day running a Silverado SS with a procharger and he gained 50 hp going from 1 5/8 to 1 7/8 headers... Anybody else with a thought on this?

This is what vortech told me when I asked similar questions about my Lysholm:

I asked about headers and exhaust and they said- anything I do with first off need to be retuned. Headers themselves increase flow but will cause the blower to lose the ability to build boost, which negates the power potential of the blower. So yes headers will make more power but the real gain comes after a smaller pulley to build the boost back and a retune.

About manifold- I have a 5.3 and at some point will change to a 6.2. They said- We have a kit for the 6.2 so all you would need is the base manifold and re use the rest of your components.

The Lysholm is cheaper than $6299.99 plus $130 for shipping.

There are no cold air intakes for the lysholm. Your independent shop may be able to fabricate and tune an intake for you.

Your independent shop will be able to extract more power out of our 50 state legal system but we tune on the conservative side.

So there you have it. Word from the mnufacturer coming to you from a lysholm owner. And let me say that even with the lysholm on a 100% stock, truck, most mach 1's, camaros and challengers fall short.
