Default L92 VVT Cam

My 09 Escalade, recently spun bearing due to oil pump failure. I've been talking to a few companies about a vvt cam for it while I have the engine disassembled. It's 1 7/8 headers, 4in exhaust, cai, ported ls3 tb, and circle d 2800 converter. I've been looking for something to make decent power, sound near stock(stealth), and still have ***** to pull my car hauler.

TSP recommended either vvt1 or 2
Comp has recommended their 401 cam, but don't have phaser tables.
Mast told me their L92 ho cam, but I've been reading that their customer service isn't up to par and hard to get assistance when needed.

Many others have told me do away with vvt all together.

It's currently street tuned, but will be brought to patg for dyno tune once put back together.

Whatever you do, don't use another GM high volume (VVT) pump unless you deburr the relief valve bore. That's the most common reason why they fail. Relief valve hangs and you lose all oil pressure.

That's exactly what happened and thrashed the thrust bearing beyond saving. New crank going in as well.

Why not get Pat to spec you a VVT cam for a custom grind?

He's actually the one tuning it, but i was pressed on time and couldn't wait that long for one to be grind, I ended up getting comp 401, that was closest to what he spec'd for my needs. I'm thinking about bumping compression up with thinner head gaskets while im in here

Anybody hear of Brian Tooley racing cams? That's my other option.

I had called Comp Cam, Brian Tooley, MAST, Lunatii and TSP and they all either had recommended to keep it or delete it. So, I went with 3-bolt cam, deleted the VVT and pulled the trigger on a Circle D too. Couldn't be happier. Gas mileage... well we don't buy 6.2s for their economical and environmental contributions so it sucks. I can always drive the vette if I want to be cheap.
