So my g80 went to hell!! GOING UPHILL!!! Took it apart and yeah its gone..my question is..what is a good locker to put on my 08 yukon 5.3? Just put back the 3.42 stock gears back since i took off the 28's..i dont want to buy another g80...i want something that can stand some abuse and that will handle future mods..i dont know much about the different types of lockers..so pretty much something good and posi.

I sometimes do some donuts with this monster and i dont want to be in the middle of one and one of the wheels stops spinning..i know that lsd is posi but with all the different clutch and gear setups out there i dont want that abuse to be too much..also eaton makes detroit so are there many differences between a eaton brand and a detroit brand..

Detroit = Eaton. Eaton acquired Tractech, the manufacturer of Detroit differentials, in 2005.

I don't think you could break an Eaton LSD without serious abuse with serious power. And I've seen plenty of cars and trucks go over 100k miles without changing the clutches. I am putting an Eaton LSD in my 6,000lb., 500rwtq+ SUV when I have the extra funds and I have no doubt it will hold up to whatever I can throw at it.

X2. As do I. No clutches to wear out and just traction. One of the best mods I have done for winter snow and ice driving. And yes I mean the locker, not the trutrac junk.

I almost drank the truetrac koolaid but this guy showed me the light haha
Do a simple google truetrac search and you'll see they have a bad track record and tend to destroy themselves

Trutracs work, but without a thrust bearing on the helicals its just goin to eat the housing. Good idea but bad design.
