Default G80 ? Eaton

I am confused?!? What is the difference between the G80 and an Eaton? On Eaton's website they say that our trucks with RPO code G80 is an Eaton Locker. If that is true why is every one taking out the G80 and are going with the Eaton in their trucks?

Website where I read this.

the G80 is made my eaton. but the G80 isn't a "peformance" locker. the G80 won't ALWAYS lock up and will peg-leg after 20 MPH. an aftermarket eaton is much better.

OK! That clears up a lot of questions. My brother is going to upgrade his rear end (95 1500) and we came access that on the website. I told him my rear end is a G80 and it is unpredictable. What a relief, because I was looking into an Eaton also. It would have sucked to replace something that I already have!

I just ordered my eaton yesterday. I don't particularly like the G80. It works from 0-20 mph, but after that it is a one wheel peel. Hitting the accelerator at a 30 roll, and you can bet only the right wheel tire will spin. Eaton is the way to go.

You should see all the black marks in front of my house thanks to Eaton. I highly recommend it

All I can say is that I destroyed my G80 because of slamming on the gas at 28mph. The tranny dropped down a gear and crunch, no more spider gears. I was confused about the eaton/g80 relationship and went with a detroit locker, because I was garanteed (lifetime) i would not be able to break it again. So far I have just broken motors and axle shafts. I hope your eaton purchase works out.

There is only one thing more bueatiful than a GM lighting up both wheels and shifting, and I cant mention it here- have fun
