I got the tranny rebuilt Under warranty with only 33000 on it. now after the 3k stall and shift kit/servos. I went wild one night and burned off the rears doing donuts I was drunk but I disticnctly remember a rubbing clunking sound I think that was the g80 dying. Right now I have horrible traction with only one wheel turning and to top it off one of the shift silenoids is acting up. It was stuck open for a week and suddenly today it went back to normal and the light went off. My mechanic is doing the G80 under warranty, he told me to just put the stock cluster back in good guy

Anyone else break thier g80 rearends, also how reliable are the shift silenoids

 

you should see if you could upgrade to a eaton?

same thing happened to my buddy (PORN_1) only it was his rearend then trans.

 

Kick in the extra cash for the eaton

 

but I get the g80 for free how much is an eaton or auburn unit

 

G80 is weak and not a true limited slip.You will not beleive the difference a real posi will make in your truck's traction.

 

Getting drunk and doing doughnuts is fun but clouds your senses and judgement. I blew my dads tranny that way back in "86". Stupid kid!!LOL

 

stop drinking and get an Eaton
