The engine had a full machine shop rebuild.

Well, they fixed the noise, but can't fix the oil leaks.
I have been back 3 times for the same leaks.
Last time, they went as fair as a new oil pan and it is still leaking in 2 places, mostly on the right rear area of the pan.
I know it was installed correctly last time around, but no luck.
It leaks enough to stain the driveway overnight.

I am going to get another appointment next week but I am not sure what they can do.

Any one have any idea what's up??

Seriously, this is an amazingly bad string of luck for one guy! My sincere condolences.

 

It is getting annoying.
Fortunately, this is eating up any bad luck that I am due for, the rest of my life is
cruising along ok.

 

I always put some RTV on the corners of the pan gasket....are you sure its the oil pan?

It's not a noise but right there in your own words, problem solved. I would have sold it or burnt the truck by now, however I have zero time or patience for new mechanical lemons.

It's an oil pan gasket and if it's leaking while oozing with RTV along with a new pan, I would think you either have a damaged, warped or cracked panrail on the block. Totally possible with it being moved around during the rebuild process... or some dummy dropped the block at some point.

Or as suggested it is something else leaking entirely and mimmicking the pan gasket somehow.

Try a new rear cover gasket and put a thin coat of engine sealant on the block side it's very common on the 6.2 it rides along the edge of the cover looks like a rear main leak or oil pan.

 

Easiest way to do it is order a new rear cover at a dealer. It comes with a new cover gasket rear main already installed in the cover. if you don't have rear main installer makes it easier. And it comes with all new bolts. Make sure you put a thin coat of engine sealant on the block make sure it's thin enough coat so it doesn't get squeezed out it to the cam bearing or clog the oil gallery. I have been fixing this same leak on escalades since 07. They say the block are pooris at the cover gasket matting surface also before you put the cover back on run a bead of sealant along the top of the oil pan where it seals against the rear cover.

 

Is the oil problem just on the 6.2 motors? My L76 has an oil leak too but Im pretty sure mine is coming from the front cover/seal and running down the side of the pan to the bellhousing.
