Make sure you put a thin coat of engine sealant on the block make sure it's thin enough coat so it doesn't get squeezed out it to the cam bearing or clog the oil gallery. I have been fixing this same leak on escalades since 07. They say the block are pooris at the cover gasket matting surface also before you put the cover back on run a bead of sealant along the top of the oil pan where it seals against the rear cover.
The truck is still under warranty and is being worked on by the dealer.
The previous engine rebuild was done under warranty by them and the block was subbed out for machining as part of the job.
The block may have been damaged.

Your point on the cover seal makes sense, but there is also a pan leak about one foot forward on the drivers side as well as the larger leak at the right rear corner.

I have booked it in again for next week, and will mention the cover gasket.

Thanx

How many time have they tried to fix it? Maybe time for a new dealer. They are being lazy because they have to remove the trans.

Time for a can of carb cleaner and a trip for that truck to the used car lot at another gm dealer because the current dealer is already aware of it's problems.

I know what you mean, but what else would I get.
It's an Ltz, 6.2 nht, with well chosen mods, it's tow rated for 10,000 lbs
you can't order or find a better combo imho.

I have a truck with issues, could I get another of the same and have none, likely.
We'll see if they can fix the leaks, but I would rather wait for the next generation Gm before changing trucks.

I'd call/e-mail GM directly and complain you're not satisfied. I did on the lifter tap after owning the '02 for 2 years, and pissed enough that they made the swap.

Order a identical truck to yours. I would wait a few years on the new trucks the first few years gm always irons out the bugs on them at customers expense by the time 3-4 years on the market comes around they are pretty solid.

Other option call gm customer service and bitch whine and complain and see what happens. This is the cheapest option on your part.
