Default 2011 5.3 to a LY6 or L76?

Well I got this truck to strictly make it fast on the street. I've got maybe 3,800 miles or so on the 5.3 but I'm gettin ready to go Turbo. I wanna do this right the first time so I can just enjoy it as my cruiser, and I feel like if I start with the 6.0 then ill be much happier. Not sure if I'd be happy with the 5.3 in the end. Either way its gonna get a Turbo with some other goodies. Mods in Sig, which 6.0 would be better for my build with a lot of BOOST!

LY6 : Iron Block, L92 Heads

Or

L76 : Aluminum Block, L92 Heads

I think a boosted 5.3 RCSB would be plenty fast on the street, esp. if you are only rwd.

I would think the iron block would be happier with the boost... So exactly what do you plan to get out of it? Like performance wise, hp goals, track times? Reason I ask because I think you would be surprised what you can get out of that little 5.3. Dont get me wrong tho I completely agree to go 6.0 or even a boosted 6.2 just for the extra cool factor but if your just trying to have a truck that will light up the tires at will a boosted 5.3 could do that for you without the cost of swapping motors and stuff.

Got a few question tho I really want to get into a new 6 speed single cab how do you like yours right now with just a tune I know you want to go faster but is it fairly quick as it is now? Have you ran it at the track? Got any pics? Interested because in the valley you can order a single cab 6 speed with the 6.2 (YES A 6.2) and I am really tempted at going down there and trading in my 09 and ordering me one.

My future plans include the LY6. With a 4" crank, of course. Engine is a drop-in. Simple swap.

I met a guy with a 07 tahoe that had a LY6 swap in it at the dyno night at Nelsons shop in San Antonio. It had the nelson performance turbo kit on it. Running low boost, dont remember the exact number but it made like 430whp. It sounded mean too.

Ive actually tossed the idea around about getting a 6.0 to put in the Hoe so I will watch what everyone says

Well I'm not looking for a certain time at the track since it probly won't see the track much. I'm wanting 500+RWHP. You guys may be right, I may not even need the 6.0. I'm not really looking to be able to roast the tires all the time, just wanna be able to smoke 90% of what I see at the redlight including most sports cars aside from something heavily modded. And the other 10% I wanna give em a good run atleast. I know that you can get big power out of these 5.3's with full bolt ons and FI. But I want it to be reliable as well. I'm thinking with the 6.0 & FI I could get to my goal easier & be more reliable without a lot of the bolt ons. I dunno, I would just hate to not be happy with the 5.3 after its done & then wind up still wanting to swap in a 6.0 & start over on an all new setup? What yall think.

Yes, I love the 6speed in the RC! The 4speed in my old CC just doesn't compare. A 6.2 & 6speed in a RC from the factory, JUMP ON THAT!!!!! Wish I would of known, I would of made that trip down there myself. Anyways, it does kind of hunt for gears, but after the Tune, ****** awesome! I say go for it, I did miss the room when I went to a RC from a CC, but I love my RC & very happy with it. I haven't been to the track, I just mess around on the street. To me it is quick yes, especially off the line I feel it would leave my old CC sittin still. I only have a few pics, from when I picked it up from the dealer. Here they are, got some more of the interior on my camera, just gotta upload them to photobucket.

JetBlack98Z...... I see you live in LP, were you stay at? I'm over at Underwood & Spencer behind Tortillas closer to San Jac. I might have seen your truck around, I see a few Black CC around. Down for a friendly run sometime? I'd like to see how the RC would fair against the CC with the 6speeds. Anyways hit me up sometime.
