Default 07' New Body Sierra, Radio/Speaker problems?

I have an 07' Sierra and I'm having some issues with my front and rear driver side door speakers. I started having trouble with it about 2 weeks ago with the diver side door speakers either not working, or working. It Never would do it while I was driving, just either one or the other each time i drove my tuck. At the moment, they are not working. I have factory tweeters, and from them I have another pair of tweeters ran. All tweeters in my truck, left and right, work just fine, along with the passenger door speakers as well. Also, the chimes and all run on the driver side speakers and you can hear them through the tweeters still, but the chime sounds a lil crackly. The truck does not have a stock amp and it does not have the bose system. I have also checked the wiring at the door with a volt/ohm meter and was not able to get any voltage at the driver door speaker. Has anyone had similar problems? I'm really thinkin that I'm gonna have to replace the stereo. if so, any suggestions around the $200 area, and what install kits are best?

There was just a post that re-surfaced about this a few days ago. I started it a while back, but yes, this seems to be a common problem. I just replaced the speakers with factory replacements that I got from someone on here, that upgraded and they've been working ever since.

No, it's not covered under the extended warranty. I just went to the dealership about some other stuff with my right hub bearing and axle and they told me that wasn't covered.
Problem with mine is that i'm not getting power to the speakers either, checked them with a volt meter.

and thanks for that link. I read some of it yesterday, but didn't read all the way through it. SOunds like something that should be recalled. I just checked it again, maybe my meter wasn't reading right, but i've got power at the speaker.
Problem = Speakers. Does anyone make an after marker application to mount or does everyone just buy new 6.5s and bolt them in place?

I just cheaped out and Schino, on here had a set from his truck he wasn't using after upgrading, so I got his old ones. If I was going to upgrade the stereo I had gone aftermarket speakers. I'm sure any 6.5"=6.75" speaker should work, though you may have to modify the connections.

BlackJack, mine had started out with the staticy sound also, then started intermittenly not working at all, I tested the system all the way from the factory head unit down theo the speaker connects, I don't know what caused the speaker to crap out but it was definitely gone and not blown.

I know the front doors and crew cab doors are 6.5" or 6.75". Reg cab back speakers are 4x6 I think. Not sure about ext. cab door speaks. They may be 4x6 also.

Seems like the issue has been with the full door speakers though, I think factory size is 6.75", but 6.5" fit in the same space usually with an adapter plate that come with aftermarket speakers. Haven't heard of any problems with the rear speakers going bad, except the 6.5's in the rear crew cab doors.

l3371, mine did basically the same, i'm getting power past the connectors at the main wires on the speaker. I guess the voice coils just decided to burn up all of the sudden.
