Plenty of guys run 4.10s at the track. Just have to get the right tires for it.

Yep, no reason to talk about 3rd gear here. Whoever asked was just wondering what the effect on rpms would be in 4th gear(cruising). That's what I gathered anyway.

Cons of 4.10's

- May cause a lack of traction depending on the tire/suspension used.

- A little worse gas mileage

Pros of 4.10's

- Definately help get a heavy truck moving a little faster off the line(assuming proper tires )

- Allow most trucks to cross the traps at a much better rpm.

Anyone want to add to that.

I pulled a Z28 and a Cobra this weekend from a dig to about 50mph, racing from stoplight to stoplight. If it would have gone past 50mph, I would have gotten stomped, but thats not important.
I had 1/2 car on both of em... It WILL help you get the truck moving..for sure
