Since I have an ext. cab I'd like to get out of the hole a little faster. But, I already spin a whole bunch. Would it just make my spinning worse?
One thing I was wondering about is, will it help out from a roll?
Where on the net can I get 4.10s, detroit locker, eaton posi, and all of that stuff. I don't know which one is best, I've heard good things about the detroit locker and the eaton. Thanks in advance.

depends on what your tring to achieve personaly i wouldn't go over a 3.73 in your case. i have a3/4 ton truck with this in it an i can spin the tires at will, i think anything taller and thats all you will be doing is spinnning.

I put 4.10 gears on my truck i got them from www.progeardifferentials.com for about $185.00 for the GM gears. My truck hooks pretty good even with the 4.10 on the track. On the street it all depends on the street how rocky or slick it is but if i take out some air and leave them at 20 psi they hook pretty good. as far as 1/4 mile i went from a 16.00 to a 15.60
Hope this helps.

just remember your gas milage will suffer also, as far as not seeing a difference between 3.42 and 3.73 i certainly disagree the 4.10 will definately give you the sop feel but i havent seen a 1/2 ton that could control the traction issues expecialy when gear shift points are changed in the tranny

ok, maybe no difference is a little extreme, more like some difference. i went from a 3.42 to a 4.10 and did't notice all that much difference. the "sop" feel is torque, not so much gears. and gas mileage? #1-not a bad decrease #2-WHO CARES! what are you building? something for your grandma? make OPEC happy and do it. you are on the right track with the locker, i went with an eaton and US Gear(Strange) gears. wheelspin can be an issue for sure, but a converter will hurt you more than the gears.
this is just my experience with my truck. i did the gears/locker before the tranny/converter if that helps at all. sounds to me that you need a converter more than gears.
hey pony, not trying to start a pissing match here. k?

Thanks for the info guys. I'm just trying to get a lower et. I'm going to the track for the first in a few weeks. I want to go before I get my headers installed, so I can see if there is any big difference. By the way, how much does the locker and gears cost?
