Does your state do a visual inspection to pass emissions? If not, then no, you don't need them, but you will need o have the PCM tuned to turn off the rear O2 sensors or you'll get a MIL (Malfruncion Indicator Light) aka Check Engine Light

In Ct we have to bring it to a emission testing place not a state facility

I found this thread and site via a very good friend of mine. EXCELLENT thread. Thank you for the information and taking the time to reply on this. My plan is to do the HP Tuners, get the headers, get the headers on, cat delete and retune with HP Tuners. Hopefully that'll wake this 5.3 up some!

Thanks a lot. That's always great to hear....well, great to read.

I'm sure with all the knowledge that this place has (and shares), that you'll be happy when all is said and done. My truck is only tuned for 87 octane and runs MUCH better than a stocker.

Rel3rd, when I pull l these off for an engine swap what would you recommend for new crush gaskets where the headers meet the resonators?

I kinda doubt that Speed Daddy/DNA Motoring would, or can, sell parts separately, but you have two other options that I can suggest...

Try to match one up at your local parts store, or if it still "looks" good you can put a small bead of Permatex ULTRA COPPER Hi-Temp RTV on both sides of it. That will work as I have used it many times on the pipe to cylinder head connection on Harleys which is much hotter than at the header to Y pipe connections on our trucks.

I have actually used the ULTRA COPPER about 5 times on my Y pipe to I pipe flange since I keep changing setups, and it remains leak-free.
