Default custom exhaust headers back? true dual

so having been around a couple modded cars/trucks without cats I'm getting the itch to ditch my cats again Anyways, with the crap state my exhaust is in (still using stock catback)....I was thinking of having a custom exhaust fabbed from the headers back. Do you think I'd see a worthwhile gain going to a 2.5 or 3" catless x piped true dual setup over the 2.5" dynatech y pipe with gutted cats and 3-4" catback?

This was posted to me on another forum I post on. I really want that big block sound.

"I made and sold a bunch of these systems for LS1 F bods. Everyone loved them. They are not that loud. I DD's my car for over 5 yrs w/ this exhaust and loved it. It had the sound of an old school big block."

Depends on how much power you are making.

Then definitely.
I would go with a spiral flow muffler though, a slight bit quieter and lower muscle car rumble you want, not a higher pitched F1 car sound like the cheaper bullet style.

I wouldn't mind going without a muffler.

IMO if you want the Big block sound (kinda like a nascar) go with a H-pipe with a very short connecting pipe (2-4inches)... Just my .02...

From my personal experience the power difference between a X-pipe and a H-pipe is nothing, I worked in an exhaust shop for 3 years while in college, but do as you like..

You didn't give me any suggestion as far as power goes, only sound.
