Default Best way to delete cats

I have ASM headers and Corsa exhaust....seems like the pinch point is the y-pipe and cats. Plus, I'm getting up there in mileage (96,000). I want to get rid of my cats but keep the look legal since I have to pass smog this coming year (AZ just does a visual and checks the PCM for codes). Should I just gut them, or are there look-alikes I can buy, or what is the best way to go with this? Obviously I need sims, I know that already....

Thanks!

get brian to send a pcm with them turned off and gut them if you need a visual inspection.

Put them off and run straight pipe.

Hes got to pass a visual I cut one side off and shove somthing though them but when you cut it off do it at a angle or make a jagid cut or somthing so it will only fit back togeather one way and everything will line up when you put it back in.

OK so running a pipe through would be the best? Is the stock pipe size going to be a restriction between the headers and exhaust? I thought that it was a smaller diameter than the headers, but I could be wrong. I was thinking a bigger aftermarket set of cats or fakes, but if the stockers will work just as well then hell yeah.

Headers are 1.75" primaries, but I don't see any specs on the collector diameter.

Wish I knew where to get some fakes too just in case i do ever need an inspection.
My plan now is to buy two 12" sections of stainless 2.5" diameter tubing and just replace the cats with that.

I have a set of gutted cats I got from someone. I am just going to weld in a piece of 2.5" exhaust tubing, and weld that in place of my factory cats.

OK sounds like that's what I'll end up doing too. Thanks.
