1999 Silverado - Motor Swap .. Need opinions...
#1
Hey guys,
I'm thinking of swaping motors in my truck. Right now I have a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado, Reg Cab with a V6 (4.3L)...
I'm wanting to fix this baby up, but I'm not sure what to do.
What to consider:
1) Daily driver, though I do not drive more than ~25-30 miles a day.
2) Money. I'm a broke college student, I will be saving up for awhile. I can't afford something thats going to cost me >$7k or so.
I need opinions, so if you could, please participate in the poll, then post your comments!
Thanks!

I voted for LS1 w/ mild cam. My truck, untuned, pulled 13.9 @ 101 w/ a slipping 60-e. I would definitely try to put some money aside for a little tranny work (converter/Trans Go/cooler) or even a built 65-e if you can afford it.
I like the LS1 for it's 100-pound weight savings and better gas mileage than the 6.0L.

I bought a new 6.0L off Ebay, a new .212/.218 high lift version Comp Cam and components from TSP and had under $3000 in the whole deal. Unfortunately I sold it and now I have Jack ****.

You could do like one guy did and spend $6K plus labor for V6 swap or you could sell your truck up grade to a 4.8 or 5.3,look at the blue book, there is about $1200 difference between V6-V8,then drop in a 6.0 w/cam and tuning for under $2K
