Default XMSN X-member..Why is mine differnt? 60-80E swap

So just got back from my deploymentt ordered a FLT LVL 4 80E, still waiting on that, but thoght i had it all figured out and i would be a breeze and crawled under the truck and my cross member doesn't look anything like what everyone else has. Mine is flat and has a horizontal curve in it, instead of being boxy and a vertical curve in it.

Any help on what to do would be appreciated.

was thinking i could just cu the old bracket out put some square tube in the and bolt the dampener on top, unless there is a fix out there already.

That might work it'll be close to where you need it and you'll be able to reattach your support bars to it.

99s have a different crossmember.... Had something to do with first year for nbs and its kinda a pita sometimes...if you spun it 180 youre gonna have to redrill holes in frame and at that point probably be better off mocking it up and redrilling the crossmember mounting holes and just moving it back... Ive got a friend who has a 99 2500 non HD nbs with 4l80 im waiting for hin to send me pics of his xmember to see if its same as the 1500 or the later model trucks...

Ok just climbed under my 99 (seriously thinking of scrapping 4l60/5e im building and getting an 80 instead) looks like you can flip crossmember 180* and open up the holes on either side of the crossmember and it will bolt in fine, almost makes me wonder if gm had thought about on the 99 using same frame for 1500 and 2500 and orientation of trans crossmember being difference!!! I plan to if/when i get to it bolting crossmember to trans and lifting it into place and seeing where it lines up and drilling frame out!!!

Hey is your truck lifted??? If it is i want to know how long your ds is, i realized tonight i have something like 3 inches of my front yoke hanging out of my tcase.... I measured the center of my u joint to back of my tcase seal was 72" to tcase itself was 73" wondering if with a lifted truck the ds would even have to be shortened for an 80 swap???!!!! Would imagine front needs to be longer but the rear im thinking maybe not....

i have a 6" lift on it. 2500 DS fits in the front, just going to roll with it for now, as for the rear i'm going to see how it mounts up before i order a new one, people that have lowered or stock usually shorten it.
