stock cam with 3000 stall
#1
Hey Everyone,
I did a search and couldn't seem to find what I was looking for. My Converter has **** the bed and I don't really want to waste money putting a stock one back in. So My question is will a 2800-3000 stall converter suck with a stock cam. I plan on camming the truck soon but currently only have longtube headers, full 3" single exhaust without cats and an intake.
Oh ya also will I be able to drive for a while with the new converter without a tune, no tuners up here in Northern B.C Canada.
Thanks a lot

I just installed a my 2800 about a month ago. once i got used to it i like it. flashes up and breaks the tires loose in first and chips 1-2 shift. im runnin a 295/50/20. i havent retuned for the converter yet but it def. needs it. mileage will suffer some. i found out that driving with it in tow/haul mode helps with the converter lockup issues until its retuned.

I just put a 2800 in mine with a stock cam. Its nice when you punch it but does stall up a it driving around from red light to red light. But like 06Sierra said gears will make a difference and I have 2.73! Gonna be changing those to 3.73 soon and should do much better without the load of the 2.73 on it. Also I want to tune for converter lockup to be better.
