Default Riding on front bump stops on 2WD after 2" drop?

I noticed a couple weeks ago that my front LCA's are resting on the bumpstops a good amount after lowering with 2" drop springs. A search revealed that this is normal and the bump stops are actually part of the suspension giving a "progressive feel". I guess they even touch from the factory. However, I could only find this info for 4WD trucks, not 2WD.

Does this apply to 2WD also? I can't imagine they were touching or even close to touching before the 2" drop. I didn't think to look before the spring install. Any 2WD guys out there cut them down or remove them after dropping the front 2"? Or can you tell me if they touch from the factory? If not, how much of a gap is there?

Thanks.

2" front drop here also. Mine have been touching for 3 years and I've been rolling like that problem free. Doesn't seem to affect ride like sitting on rear bumpstops would. Gives it a progressive ride like you said and works to cushion out bumps.

my 2" still rides a bit rough. All my suspension is new up front now....everything! I think the Bell Tech SP shocks just totally blow, I have some bumpsteer. I need to check that bumpstop...I recall talking with another forum member who said he trimmed his.

I also heard about trimming them and heard that it will soften up the ride, but again this info was all 4WD, haven't found 2WD info yet. Im thinking of trimming them down to a factoryish height. But I have no idea what that would be. Can anyone with stock suspension take a pic or measure?

Here you go. Stock 2002 2wd suspension. I can fit my pinky finger between the rubber and the lower arm so Im guessing about 1/2 inch maybe? Hope this helps.

YES! That's perfect!

I guess 2WD is not meant to ride on the bump stops. Unless someone says otherwise, I'll be trimming mine down to attempt to achieve a similar gap, maybe a little less. Here is mine as it sits right now.

Mine are the 3" coils too but with the 1" spacer left in, so 2" drop. Maybe you should check
