Default i have access to a 14 bolt

so my buddy bought an 84 gmc k2500 and it has the 8 lug 14 bolt semi floater 9.5" in it. he said he would give it to me. any good? i know most of you guys are running the 88-98 rears. i don't know much about the swaps into the nbs trucks. i just know my perches are going to have to be moved out. what about the axle width compared to mine?
i want to convert it to 6 lug and disc brakes. i already have disc's on my truck btw. leaning towards using my stock 10 bolt disc setup but still trying to figure out a spacer. i saw one thread on here where a guy made a set. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=402503
i can just get 6 lug axle shafts for a 14bsf and they will go in no problem right?
any advise would be great.

What are your future plans for the truck.

If you plan on running tires 35" and smaller and light offroading, or anything under 700 rwhp, you will be fine with the 10 bolt.

Get it and switch out the shafts for 6 lug shafts and you will be good. Spring perches need to be moved in 2". WMS to WMS is roughly the same for both, maybe 1" shorter for the OBS.

Im having issues with my 10b rotors fitting over the 14b flange, but I may have a solution tomorrow. I have been driving it as is for 3 months if that says anything though...

i don't trust my 10 bolt. i already blew the **** out of the spider gears. this will be a slow build until my 10 bolt goes. i have no idea where my truck will go from here. it's always changing lol.

where does everyone get shafts. i just want stock ones. don't need superior or anything like that.

I've broken my spider gears 3 times. Then I spent the money on a truetrac and haven't had ANY problems since.

10b to 14b? I have. Used the 10b rotors, calipers, and backing plates spaced correctly to fit the 14b. After I ground the flanges on the 14b shafts slightly the rotors fit perfect and work like stock.
