Default Ls2???

So I'm deployed. So I have lots of time to dream up weird stuff.

I keep looking at this https://sdparts.com/details/gm-perfo...parts/12568950
Seems like a great price if everything fits so easily.
Tell me if I'm wrong. Could I just buy some nice new 4.00 pistons/rings, have my 5.3 rods and crank cleaned up/balanced, new bearings/seals, and have a nice semi budget (even lighter weight) 6.0L block?
Does this block bolt up in a truck? What does the reconditioning and assembly work at an engine shop cost?

Thanks for replying. I'm actually considering the LS2 block with forged pistons and the 5.3 rods, crank and anything else worth swapping. A lot of my curiousity was about how the aluminum blocks bolt up in a truck. And any other reason not to use one. The new block is only a few hundred more than a new LQ9 block.
I have been thinking about the LS3 style heads and intake though. So I'd love to hear more about using that hardware in the older truck.

Most of the aluminun blocks have same mounting holes etc as the iron blocks... Iirc, should be direct swap, sure someone will chime in if theres a difference somewhere.

Of course till I'm home and settling in, this is all speculation...

I'm thinking an LS2 block, forged flat tops, reconditioned rods/crank (possibly from my 5.3), GMPP LS3 heads (they're a deal), and whatever rectangle port intake suits me at that point.

Also thinking maybe a BTR truck cam, stage 3 or 4.

I have a new Yank TT3000 an some low mile LS7 lifters at the house.

The block will fall right into place like its iron twin..... If I were going to build and aluminum LS2 I would search around for an LQ9 rotating assembly, it is the same hard parts used in an LS2 and if you top the motor off with a set of 243 heads your comp ratio will be somewhere like 10.9-11.0:1. Why look for lq9 rotating assembly over stock 5.3 rods is the lq's are stronger and they use bushes wrist pins, which free up friction on the rod/piston giving you better longevity and the bushes pins allow the end user to remove/install Pistons with out the need of a machine shop or a press...... FWIW, my motor is an Iron LS2, rotating assembly and all, it started life as a brand new GM crate LQ9, then I ditched the stock 317's bc I wasn't running boost any more and I wanted a better N/A setup and I sourced a top end from a 2006 tbss, I did do internal work to the motor but you get the idea
