Default for the hardcore guys, Panard bar, Torque arm setup

what are some thoughts of a panard bar, torque arm rear suspenson setup? figure they work well given what they are and possibly could be built and not having to relocated the fuel tank and still be able to keep the sprigns and shocks currently used. brackets can be found on a TB or a suburban

Leafs are pretty good with side to side which is what a panhard bar would support. But twisting, or axle wrap causing wheel hop is more what they suffer from, so you could defiantly benefit from a torque arm.

you wouldn't run a torque arm/phb setup with a leaf spring, you would need to switch to a coil spring in the rear. A torque arm setup wouldn't be the best option for a truck, 4 Link would be more worth while.

again 4link involves removing the tank and replacing with fuel cell. which i cant do at the moment

as for this idea, its cause my DJM hangers dont allow Caltracs which i can probably do a Torque arm, panard bar setup for alot less then caltracs and new hangers

We run a panhard bar & torque arm with leaf springs on our '66 Mustang road-race car. With about 600 hp to the tires on a leaf spring setup, it needs all the help it can get. While the leaf springs are stiff, the panhard bar just helps insure no side-to-side, but the torque arm is a must for wheel hop on hard acceleration

Maybe these will help, here are a couple of examples of 3-Links from lateral dynamics, mainly for road racing not sure if it is good for drag racing.

I hope that helps.

I don't think I have any pics of just the panhard bar or torque arm. I can get some as soon as the new rearend is back from being narrowed & adding 1.5 degrees negative camber
