Not so much the crank pinning, which is important to keep the pulley from spinning on snout, but a good balancer is worth its weight in gold for any v8 especially for boosted higher hp application.

The "good" balancer will be pinned the same way the "stock" unit is with the ProCharger system. (or pretty much any other kit)

Not until you get into big HP, and run a aftermarket balancer, and start cutting keyways in the crank. (or 2, if your making big steam on cog set ups) But no stock crank has those kinda keys in them.

Serp belts, with a single key, and stock balancers can hold 1000+ crank HP.
The Corvette guys do it all the time

I remember when I was at about the same place you are right now.........and you see where it got me. Once the D1sc was gone, I bought an F1R and before that even ran I sold it and bought an F2. I'm just saying.......

If you want my honest opinion......you got a bad *** truck. Don't go down the road I did just yet. While I had my fair share of fun with the d1sc and the built motor (4 years), I still feel like I could have gone further with it and it would have been fun to do. Get your engine **** figured out and then either decide to stick with the d1sc or make a mild upgrade to an f1 series blower. I probably wouldn't do the R (too inefficient) and I probably wouldn't do the X (too moody unless the cam and countless other things are just right). The D would be an interesting choice. Haven't seen that blower too much, but from what has been seen, it can make good power, it is reliable and power seems to come in real quick.

....or gut it, cage it, 4 link it, and do the F2?????????????
