ls3 cam in turboed 4.8 any thoughts
#1
I picked up a ls3 cam for near nothin and was wondering if anyone else has ran one in a 4.8l. I already have springs. Cam will be goin in a 09 crew cab. Ls3 cam specs are 204/211 .551/.525 117.

LS3 has 36*
FWIW I have no experience in forced induction, my suggestions are solely based on the popularity of the LS6 cam for forced induction. Since the LS6 and LS9 are only 1* difference in overlap it would seem like it would be a better choice than the LS3 cam.
Ask some of the experienced FI guys, I'm sure they could explain the needs of your setup better than I can.

In your other thread someone said 1st version of the LS6 and the current LS3 are both 204/211 so it will be the same. There is other factors to consider than duration, here are both cams compared.
Old LS6- 204/211 .524/.524 116 LSA 118 ICL 39* overlap
LS3- 204/211 .522/.551 117.5 LSA 120 ICL 36* Overlap

In your setup I would have went with the LS3 if you got it for next to nothing, the LS9 is to heavily exhaust bias for a turbo setup in my opinion. The LS9 is also setup for a rect port intake port and a supercharger, this is the reason for the heavy exhaust bias.
