4.8 turbo, looking for ideas
I'm new to turbos so don't be too hard on me guys. I was debating on an lq4 swap/build but the crazy numbers some guys are putting up has peaked my interest. I've got a 2004 4.8 rcsb with a 5 speed and I've been looking at turbo kits, I saw the kb performance kit which looked pretty nice, but definitely would want the intercooler behind the grill. Anyways I found a pt71-gts turbo .81 t4 exhaust housing, locally that the guy says only has dyno time since rebuild (new bearings, billed compressor wheel, ect) guy wants 800. Would that be a good option? Is that even a decent price? I feel like an idiot, but I guess I gotta learn somehow. I'm not looking for crazy numbers 500 or a little more max.

I thought so, I'm just not sure what that would do with my hp goals. I plan on upgrading the fuel system, a tranny swap, a twin disc clutch. I'm just not sure when it comes to turbo systems. Where are you out of Blackrat48?

NV4500, it has the 3500 in it and to my understanding it's a direct swap. As for if it will handle the power.....maybe, maybe not. I saw the denmah kit on vs racing, but I don't want a lot of lag, like I said.....I'm totally new to turbos aside from having a 2006 dodge dually a few years back.....lol

To get to 500rwhp you will need to go big on boost or start doing motor work. A cam will help you a lot. You are making roughly 220rwhp in stock form. Throw a cam at it and you will be starting around 300rwhp NA. With a 5speed you have significantly less drivetrain loss which helps. Throw 15lbs at it boom you are there.
