Default Front mount turbo, 8.1L

So the rear mount seems to be more trouble than I like dealing with. Just little stuff that keeps bothering me. So I have been contemplating a front mount system. I was thinking of flipping the passenger side manifold and building the same style like many of the front mounts on the LS motors on this site. The stock manifolds are cast...will they work for this? Can I weld on them? Any other Pro's or Con's or forseen problems?? Any advice would be great also.

Most kits I've seen like this work great but I'm not sure about an 8.1.

If your are trying to make a front mount, it is going to be a whole lot more trouble then fixing the lil problems you say the sts has....

The kits that flip the manifold don't require welding to the manifolds. The crossover joins after the manifold but before the turbo and there is a home-made coupler that converts the manifold flange to the turbo flange. The turbo does not bolt directly to the manifold.

He's talking about an 8.1L big block (496), not a small block setup. who knows how the 8.1's manifold is gonna fit once flipped, there might not be any room. Just something he's gonna have to try and see.

If I had and 8.1 truck, I try it and see!

Probably not going to be plug -n- play.

I know this is going to be all custom done, but I like those kind of things. I'm pretty sure I could handle it...maybe

So the 'ends' of the manifolds look similar. I wander if they're the same.
These two pics are of LS manifolds

Here are a couple pics of the 8.1L manifolds. What do you guys think?

I think that if you said you are tired of the lil problems that the sts is giving you, that trying to do a front mount set up is going to be a bigger pain in the ***, then fixing the problems with the sts...
