Default 4.3l turbo questions

well, its about time to start the turbo build back up on the ole 4.3l silverado. one problem i found is even though it is a 2001 it has a older style computer. the four plug style. so i got a 4.3l 2 plug style newer computer to swap in. the reason for this is the older one will not do 2 and 3 bar sd. so has any body done this swap yet? if so did the bcm jive with the new computer or did you need a new bcm? were the wires color for color or was there some off the wall wiring that was needed? we are really itching to get this done. looking for 500rwhp.

You have a lot bigger problems then that, have you replaced the intake manifold yet??? Marine or 2114 modified for real injectors? The computer swap is not to big of a deal, you will have to do a lot of wiring or get a newer harness.

yep the thing is running seimen 60's in a marine manifold as we speak. idles and drives 14.7 afr. motor is built and ready just need to get the computer in and start adding the turbo stuff. using syty manifolds with a mpt70 turbo. the new computer has about 2 feet of harness hanging off. if its just wire color to color that will be a breeze. i would think it would be but wasn't sure.

well, we got the turbo on. this thing on just 6psi shifting at 4000rpm was sucking up my other budies camed 5.3l. he didn't buy a new fuel pump yet so we have to short shift it at 4000rpm cause past that the 60's go to 110% duty cycle because the stock oump can't keep up. this thing is going to be stupid at 15-20 psi!!!!

does any body know what kind of timing the syty guys run in boost?

At 15psi they normally run around 18*. (+ or - 2 depending on fuel).

It really depends on what heads you're running too. If you're running the shitty factory heads, then 18* would be great. Vortec heads can get away with a little more due to the more efficient combustion chamber. Of course if your rich aluminum Brodix or bowtie heads puts the 4.3 on an equal playing field with other engines IMO. Meth cures all these issues though.
