2006 RCSB 4x4 V6 to V8 LQ9 Cammed Manual 5 Speed Swap
Hello All,
I have been a long time spectator of Performance Trucks and owe everyone for lots of advice and answers through my build, and want to thank you all first!
Now, I need some help on my project, as I am stumped. I just got rolling a few weeks ago and have some bugs to sort out. First a Breakdown of what it is.
So its a 2006 RCSB 4x4 started life as a 4.3L Auto base model
Now has a 2006 Escalade LQ9 (full engine harness installed from the Escalade)
A NV3500 5 Speed.
Mods are light so far with the following
8.1L Injectors GM # 25343789
Kooks Headers 1 3/4"
Comp Cams #54-414-11
LS6 Springs
Airaid intake, Stock airbox with K&N
Black Bear Tune
Nicer cloth seats than base, and the GMT900 Center seat.
Planning a locking diff as its a tire roaster in first currently.
Shes driving pretty nice but I have a few things to sort out.
1. I have no reverse lights even though it seems my harness is correct, I have wired up my harness to the reverse switch on the NV3500 and have confirmed power at B/U LP Fuse. Confirmed switched by the transmission reverse switch power at TRL B/U Fuse. and Power at TBC 2B and I have dome lights to also confirm this.
Is the body module just not commanding reverse for some reason? Where are the light green wires located? (pointed out in pic)
I have no idea where the light green wires are to confirm the next step or why my lights are not working, bulbs are good and confirmed.
FIXED! Tapped into Trailer Wiring and pulled reverse lights from there. works great!
2. My Engine harness has no 4x4 plug, what do I need to wire these 3 cables too? can I just tap in to the harness with the same color code?
FIXED! Thanks to all who helped find wire diagrams of this, ECU doesnt know its in 4x4 I haven't added the missing wire yet, but it shifts in and out with the front axle solenoid now!
3. Exhaust, My friend noticed the stock exhaust is 2.5" from the 4.3L. What is a quiet cat back option in a 3" or 3.5" if possible to help the 6.0L flow. I hit the track and although I have no 4x4 and a open diff I was thinking I would do a little better than 15 sec 95 mph, so anyone think this is holding her back?
3" Stainless Magnaflow installed and modded with their largest Muffler!
4. Rolling Idle after a hard few pulls, She still wants to stall some times rolling with the clutch in only after a hard few pulls, I am using EFI live, what do I need to change to help this out.
FIXED! Rolling Idle increased, drops from 950 RPM to idle speed once vehicle hits 0 Kms

Love this! Saving for a 6.0 swap on my 05 RCSB thats also manual.
Not sure about problems 1 2 and 4.
For exhaust After doing the kooks headers depending on future upgrades I would do a 3 or 4 inch single exit right out the passenger side before the axle.
Just find a muffler you like and have a local shop do it. Will probably be cheaper and more custom!

How does the trans feel holding the extra power?
